Personalised Signet Rings, the Signet Made Yours

The signet ring carried personalisation for a thousand years before custom engraving became a marketing tag. Every classical signet was personal — the family seal cut into the face, the merchant's mark, the monogram of the owner. Monrich personalised signet rings carry that tradition forward in 18K gold PVD plated sterling silver or surgical-grade stainless steel. Engrave an initial, a two-letter monogram, a date, a family crest, a zodiac symbol — all laser-cut into the bare metal before the plating runs, so the engraving sits inside the metal and the gold layer seals it from above.

Initial, Monogram, Crest, Birthstone, Zodiac

The personalised signet range covers the five most-requested customisations. The single initial — clean, classic, fits any ring size. The two- or three-letter monogram — for full initials. The family crest — upload your design, we send a digital proof, then laser-cut it into the face (£15 design fee, 5–7 working days). The birthstone — see the birthstone signet collection for stones set into the signet face. The zodiac symbol — twelve symbols ready-engraved, just pick yours at checkout.

Why Laser-Into-Metal Beats Stamped-Onto-Plating

The cheap end of the personalised signet market stamps or prints the design onto the plating layer — surface-level work that wears through within months of daily wear. Monrich uses laser-engraving directly into the bare metal substrate (sterling silver or surgical-grade stainless steel) before the PVD plating runs. The engraving sits below the plating surface, protected by the 18K gold layer above. The cut channels fill with PVD, so the engraving reads as the same colour as the rest of the ring rather than as a separate exposed metal line. The design stays sharp for the life of the ring.

Wear Solo or in a Stack

The personalised signet wears strongest as the focal piece — one engraved signet on the little finger, plain bands on the other fingers. For a layered ring look, pair the personalised signet with a plain blank signet on the opposite hand, or with a stacking band on the same finger. For matching pieces across pendant and bracelet, see personalised pendants and personalised bracelets.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I engrave on the face?
Single initial, two-letter monogram, three-letter monogram, family crest (upload your design), zodiac symbol, date (DD/MM), Roman numerals. Standard fonts plus a script option.
Will the engraving wear off?
No. The design is laser-cut into the bare metal before the PVD plating process — the plating then seals into the engraved channels. The text or symbol sits inside the metal, protected by the gold layer above. Stays sharp for the life of the ring.
How do I send my family crest?
Upload an SVG, AI or high-resolution PNG at checkout. Custom crest engraving has a £15 design fee and adds 5–7 working days to dispatch. We send a digital proof before cutting for your approval.
Can I get a birthstone set into the face?
Yes — see the birthstone signet rings collection. Real cubic zirconia or natural stone set into the centre of the signet face, with optional engraving around the stone.
What ring sizes are available?
UK sizes H to Z (US 4 to 13). Use a ring you already wear, measure the inside diameter in millimetres, match to our size guide. If between sizes, go up.
How long does engraving take?
Standard initials and monograms add 2–3 working days. Custom crests add 5–7 working days. Express engraving available at checkout for next-day dispatch on standard engravings.
